HC Deb 21 March 1974 vol 870 cc159-60W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) if he will issue advice to motorists regarding the need to retain petrol coupons;

(2) whether he has taken steps to authorise the commencement of the printing of a new series of petrol coupons.

Mr. Varley

The present oil supply position indicates that rationing will not be necessary this year. I have therefore asked the Post Office to stop all coupon issues after the end of this week. Motorists who already have coupons should, however, retain them as a precautionary measure. Routine printing of coupons to maintain coupon stocks at an adequate level will continue, as it has done for a number of years past.
