HC Deb 21 March 1974 vol 870 c167W
Mr. Arthur Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of the cost of petrol, she will raise the £5 petrol allowance payable to disabled persons.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The petrol allowance was discontinued two years ago except for existing beneficiaries who were allowed to keep their "reserved rights". The future of the allowance is one of the matters which will have to be considered in the light of Lady Sharp's report, which is to be published on 25th March.
