§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied that the Strathclyde Regional Authority will be able to function effectively in local government terms by the date laid down in the new Local Government (Scotland) Act.
§ Mr. William RossI understand that preparations for the transfer of local government functions under the provisions of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 are proceeding satisfactorily in the Strathclyde Region and that there is no reason to doubt that the new regional council will be ready to assume its full responsibilities in May 1975.
