HC Deb 18 March 1974 vol 870 cc50-1W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what plans she has to ensure greater usage of available beds in the area served by the Cornwall Hospital Management Committee; and what is the extent of the current shortage of staff for each hospital, respectively, in the committee's area.

Dr. Owen

This has been under review by the Cornwall Hospital Management Committee; it has recently commissioned a report by an operational research team, which will be put to the Cornwall Area Health Authority for consideration in due course.

Current vacancies for staff in the committee's area are as follows:

Nursing staff—trained 20
Nursing staff—untrained 39
Other staff — 44
Details for particular hospitals are not immediately available, but I will ask the committee to send them to the hon. Member.
