HC Deb 15 March 1974 vol 870 cc15-6W
Mr. Tom Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the present position regarding the Reserve Pension Board.

Mrs. Castle

The Government are reviewing the arrangements under the Social Security Act 1973 in the light of their plans for the future development of pensions, and the future of the Reserve Pension Board is being considered in this context.

A number of appointments to the Reserve Pension Board are, however, made by the previous Government, in addition to the appointment of Mr. D. A. Hunter Johnston as Chairman, which was announced on 19th December 1973. The appointments were Mr. F. R. P. Vinter, CB, to be Deputy Chairman, and the following to be members: Sir Maurice Fiennes, Mr. G. F. G. Grant, Mr. J. R. Johnstone, Mr. G. H. Lowthian, CBE, Lord Remnant, Professor B. H. Rose, Sir Don Ryder and Lord Samuel of Wych Cross.
