HC Deb 15 March 1974 vol 870 c16W
Mr. Tyler

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she is satisfied that her Department has adequate consultations with the local authorities concerned while changes in maternity services at Liskeard were being proposed.

Dr. Owen

The South-Western Regional Hospital Board consulted the relevant local authorities about these changes. If the hon. Member has any specific worries about the adequacy of the consultations perhaps he will write to me.

Mr. Tyler

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will take immediate steps to review the provision of adequate maternity facilities in the Liskeard area of Cornwall.

Dr. Owen

From 1st April the new area health authorities for Cornwall and Devon will be responsible for the provision of maternity and other health facilities in the Liskeard area and it will be for them in the first place to undertake any necessary review. If the hon. Member has any particular problem he would like to discuss, perhaps he will write to me.
