HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 cc34-5W
Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he is aware that seven men and one woman were members on the most recent available date of statutory boards to which he makes appointments; and if he will bear in mind Her Majesty's Government's policy regarding equality of opportunity for both sexes and the contribution which women can make when he appoints members to such boards.

Mr. Booth

I am not clear which particular statutory boards my hon. Friend has in mind. However, in nearly all cases there are many more men than women on bodies to which I make appointments. In making such appointments I take into account the two points mentioned, together with other relevant factors.
