§ Mr. David Steelasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will give a general directive to electricity boards to 554W keep separate accounts for their contracting activities on a profitable commercial basis so as to avoid unfair competition with private electrical contractors.
§ Mr. VarleyThe area electricity boards publish a separate account for their contracting and sales of appliances, and in their 1973–74 accounts boards will be including improvements to show more precise allocation of costs to these activities. I will consider whether the industry should further distinguish in its accounts between the two activities.
