HC Deb 27 June 1974 vol 875 c537W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what discussions he has had with the Price Commission regarding the increase in charges for Post Office telephone services, and with what result; and what is his estimate of the cost to the Post Office of revenue forgone through the scaling-down by the commission of increases in charges which would otherwise have been introduced.

Mr. Benn

The Price Commission has told me of its decision that the increase in charges for the Post Office's telecommunications services should be restricted to 14.7 per cent. I understand that this will reduce the yield from the increases proposed by the Post Office by some£60 million in a full year.
