§ Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for Industry what discussions he has had with the British paper and board industry regarding the supply of waste paper and if, as a result of these discussions, he will take steps to remove the price and profit controls in order to encourage sales to the home market.
§ Mr. MeacherI met representatives of the British Paper and Board Industry Federation on 24th May and am considering as a matter of urgency what action the Government might take to stimulate supplies of waste paper to the home market. I consider that the current difficult supply situation results far more from severely increased world demand than from any special United Kingdom domestic factor.
