HC Deb 26 June 1974 vol 875 c451W
Rear-Admiral Morgan-Giles

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what financial arrangements have been made with the Egyptian Government concerning the Royal Navy's contribution to the clearance of the Suez Canal.

Mr. Ennals

As I informed the hon. Member for Sheffield, Heeley (Mr. Hooley) on 13th May, the Ministry of Defence will bear the normal operating costs of the units concerned: additional costs arising from their use in Egypt will be met out of United Kingdom aid funds apart from a wide range of local services which are to be provided free of charge by the Egyptian authorities. A copy of the arangement concluded with the Egyptian Government will be placed in the Library as soon as possible.
