Mr. Blaker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consultations have taken place between Her Majesty's Government and Commonwealth Governments regarding their views about access to the European Community for non-food products.

Mr. Hattersley

Our attitude to the question of access to the European Community for non-food products from the Commonwealth was set out in my statement of 4th June to the Council of Ministers. We are keeping in close touch with the Commonwealth Governments concerned.

Sir G. de Freitas

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress he has made in renegotiating the conditions of British membership of the European Community.

I have nothing to add to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Norfolk, North (Mr. Howell) on 26th June.
