HC Deb 26 June 1974 vol 875 cc455-6W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made in the investigation recommended by the Water Resources Board into further research and development on the reclamation of the River Trent as a source of potable water.

Mr. Denis Howell

The Water Resources Board recommended investigation into reclamation of the River Trent as a long-term matter to facilitate comparison by 1985 with other alternative projects. Work has been progressing, as a continuation of the Trent research programme, into methods of treatment of Trent water to potable standards.
