HC Deb 26 June 1974 vol 875 c452W
42. Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will now give assurances that the payment by the British Government to the European Movement is to be stopped.

Mr. Hattersley

The Government have decided to amend the provision of£40,000 for the European Movement in the Supply Estimates so that only£20,000 will be granted to the European Movement, with the balance going to the European Educational Research Trust as in the past. The grant is being paid on the strict condition that the money is not used for political propaganda but exclusively for a programme of exchanges and visits with countries in Western Europe as a whole.
