HC Deb 24 June 1974 vol 875 c325W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the conditions under which concessionary television licences are issued to elderly and disabled persons living in sheltered accommodation.

Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

The old persons' homes television licence is available to retired people of pensionable age living in acommodation which qualifies for the licence under the Wireless Telegraphy (Broadcast Licence Charges and Exemption) Regulations 1970 (SI 1970 No. 548). The licence also authorises the use of television sets by members of these retired people's families living with them, but does not otherwise authorise the use of television sets by disabled people.
