There are no published figures of British and EEC import prices for the period in question. The net rates of levies after allowing for monetary and accession compensatory amounts are set out below along with wholesale and retail prices of selected cuts of imported beef.

I realise that last week's fall in egg prices has caused concern to producers. I am keeping the situation under review. It is not, however, unusual for the profitability of egg production to vary, and it is important to bear in mind the high level of profitability last year.
