HC Deb 21 June 1974 vol 875 cc302-3W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state the South of Scotland Electricity Board's expectation of growth of demand for electricity in the period to be covered in its latest proposed power station programme.

Mr. William Ross

The planning of future requirements of generating capacity is undertaken jointly by the two Scottish electricity boards to meet the needs of Scotland as a whole. Power stations in operation and under construction are expected to meet these needs up to and including the winter of 1980–81 when the present estimates of the boards are that the maximum demand on the Scottish system is expected to exceed 9,500 MW.
