HC Deb 20 June 1974 vol 875 cc221-2W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when leave will be given to commence construction of a major heart unit at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Mr. William Ross

The construction of a coronary care unit at Ninewells has already been authorised. Tenders will soon be sought with a view to a start later this year.

Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received regarding a public inquiry into the cost of construction of Ninewells Hospital, Dundee; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. William Ross

No such representations have been received in 1974. Previous representations received from time to time about aspects of the Ninewells situation have included proposals for a public inquiry. I shall consider the need for an inquiry once the relevant construction works have been completed and the outcome of the recent arbitration has been fully reviewed.
