HC Deb 19 June 1974 vol 875 cc146-7W
25. Mr. Tim Renton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress is being made towards the development of onshore facilities on the west coast of Scotland and in the Shetlands to service North Sea oil and gas.

Mr. William Ross

Three service bases supporting work on North Sea oil and gas have been established in Shetland, and the county council is in negotiation with a consortium of oil companies for the establishment of a pipeline and tanker terminal. On the west coast a base is planned at Stornoway to support work in the waters west of Scotland.
