§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement following his meetings with the proprietors of provincial newspapers, the master printers' organisation, and representatives of SOGAT, with regard to the current industrial dispute affecting local newspapers.
§ Mr. BoothI have had separate meetings with representatives of SOGAT and the employers involved in the current dispute affecting general printing and provincial newspapers. The Department's conciliation officers have also chaired a joint meeting of all the parties. These discussions have not so far been able124W to find a mutually acceptable basis on which agreement might be reached. The Department is keeping in touch with the parties and they are aware that our conciliation services continue to be available to them.
