HC Deb 18 June 1974 vol 875 c134W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection why she is subsidising bread but not the flour with which many housewives bake their own bread.

Mr. Maclennan

I would refer the hon. Member to the Report stage proceedings on the Prices Bill on 12th June—[Vol. 874, c. 1667–73] when it was announced that the Government had decided to introduce a subsidy on flour used for home-baking purposes. Details of the scheme will be announced as soon as possible.
