§ Mr. Loveridgeasked the Secretary of State for Industry if, from figures available to him from international sources, he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT a comparison of the numbers of smaller businesses in each of the EEC countries based on the most convenient figures in the records available to him.
§ Mr. Gregor MackenzieThe following figures, which for purposes of comparison are the most recent and comprehensive available from immediate sources, are taken from national censuses conducted between 1965 and 1969. They relate to manufacturers only and show, for certain employment ranges in each EEC member State, the approximate numbers of establishments and, therefore, include subsidiaries of larger firms. No reliable figures are available generally for firms employing fewer than 10 people or for non-manufacturers.
