asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he now expects stereo radio transmission to be available in Scotland.

The BBC tells me that the equipment for stereophonic Radio 2 coverage of most of central Scotland has already been installed. It hopes to complete the technical arrangements for stereophony on Radio 3 and Radio 4 before the end of the year. The BBC is unable to say when the Radio 2 stereophonic transmissions will start because of an industrial dispute at the trans- meting stations over additional maintenance requirements involved.
