HC Deb 12 June 1974 vol 874 cc566-7W
Mr. Sedgemore

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what action he intends to take as a result of the report of the European Commission on Human Rights submitted to the British Government and the Council of Europe on the British Government's treatment of Kenyan Asians; and if he will publish the report and make a statement.

Mr. Hattersley

In accordance with the procedures of the European Convention on Human Rights, the Commission's report on the case of the 31 Asian United Kingdom passport holders from East Africa now falls to be considered by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The contents of the report are confidential and, under Article 31 of the convention, may not be published unless and until the Committee of Ministers so decides.
