§ 27. Mr. Parkerasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether Laporte Industries plant on the border of Barking and Ilford uses a similar process to those of the Flixborough plant; and whether it provides a hazard to the Uphall Road school.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe Laporte Industries plant at Ilford uses processes to oxidize cyclohexane to produce cyclohexanone which in part are similar to those at Flixborough. The processes are on a much smaller scale and products other than cyclohexanone are also produced which were absent at Flixborough. The hazards arising from premises of this kind to the496W surrounding area is a matter which the public inquiry will need to consider. My right hon. Friend hopes to be able to announce the terms of reference of this inquiry shortly.
