Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he is yet in a position to give details of the authorised school building programme for the county of Leicestershire in the current financial year.

Mr. Prentice

Minor works allocations for the period 1st July 1974 to 30 June 1975 were announced last April. I hope to make an announcement shortly about the arrangements for the major school building programme for this period.

Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) whether he will seek to obtain and publish details of the school building programme approved for the current financial year in the East Cambridgeshire District Council and Fen-land District Council areas;

(2) if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of the school building programme under consideration in the current financial year and in 1974–75 for the East Cambridgeshire District Council and the Fenland District Council areas.

Mr. Prentice

In the period from 1st April 1973 to 30th June 1974 approval was given for a start on the replacement of the March County Infant School for 240 places at a cost of approximately£110,000.

Minor works allocations for the period 1st July 1974 to 30th June 1975 were announced last April. I hope to make an announcement shortly about the arrangements for the major school building programme for this period. These allocations and arrangements apply to the area of a local education authority as a whole and not to particular district council areas within its boundaries.
