asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will ascertain and publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the numbers of persons granted rate rebates in the East Cambridgeshire District Council and the Fenland District Council areas in each of the last five years.

As regards the years 1969–70 to 1972–73 I would refer the hon. Member to the entries in respect of the former local government areas comprising the two new districts in the annual publication "Rate Rebates in England and Wales", copies of which will be found in the Library. Similar statistics in respect of 1973–74 will be published in due course; in the meantime the district councils may be able to supply the figures to the hon. Member.
