HC Deb 10 June 1974 vol 874 cc429-30W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will give the status and professional qualifications of the advisers who will accompany him to the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference at Caracas.

Mr. Ennals

My right hon. Friend will not be attending the conference at Caracas. I will attend as special representative of Her Majesty's Government for part of the session. Sir Roger Jackling, formerly Her Majesty's Ambassador at Bonn, will be the permanent leader of the delegation. The alternate representatives and advisers, who will attend the conference as and when their presence is required, will comprise representatives of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Ministry of Defence, the Department of Energy, the Department of Trade, the Department of the Environment, the Institute of Geological Sciences and the Natural Environment Research Council. The trade union organisations, the fishing industry, the shipping industry and the oil and mining companies have been invited to send technical advisers but the list of these is not yet complete.
