asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the percentage of energy used in 1950, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1972 and 1973 which was imported for (a) Wales, and (b) the United Kingdom.

The estimated percentages of total inland consumption of primary energy imported from overseas in Wales and in the United Kingdom are estimated to be as follows:

1973 50 47

Primary energy consists of coal, crude oil, petroleum products, natural gas, nuclear and hydro-electricity. All petroleum products are treated as imported.
