HC Deb 10 June 1974 vol 874 c456W
Mr. David Price

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what steps he is taking to ensure that all Government Departments use the same geography for the regional breakdown of their departmental activities and that they correspond with the new local government geography of Great Britain.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The regional boundaries used by Government Departments take into account the need to facilitate good management and service to the public, and these considerations lead to different regional boundaries for different departmental functions. But in general these boundaries follow those of local government, and where necessary adjustments are being made to take account of the reorganisation of local government.
