§ Mr. Tierneyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the recognised establishments of nurses in each of the hospitals of the Birmingham Health Authority; and what are the numbers at present on strength at each of the hospitals.
§ Dr. OwenThe Birmingham Area Health Authority (Teaching), in consultation with the regional health authority, is responsible for assessing the nurse staffing requirements of the hospitals which they administer and there is no recognised 393W establishment of nurses. Neither health authority limits recruitment of trained or student nurses on financial grounds.
Nurses, including pupil nurses, in post on 31st March 1973, the latest date for which statistics are available, at each hospital for which the Birmingham Area Health Authority (Teaching) is now responsible were:
