HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 cc261-2W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if farmers will be able to supply their neighbours with seed corn, as has traditionally been the practice, when EEC seed regulations come into effect in 1975; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Bishop

The marketing of cereal seeds in Great Britain is subject to the Cereal Seeds Regulations 1974 which came into operation on 1st July. After 1st July 1976 all cereal seed covered by the regulations will need to be marketed in accordance with the conditions in them.

The marketing of cereal seed between neighbouring farmers will be subject to these conditions and the person marketing the seed would have to be registered under the terms of the Seeds (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1974.
