asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list for Devon and Cornwall those improvements to trunk A-class roads that are under construction, together with completion dates, those firmly programmed with starting dates and those in the preparation pool.

The improvements which are at present being carried out to trunk roads in Devon and Cornwall, with estimated completion dates, are as follows:

A30 Pearces Hill-Pocombe—Spring 1976.
A30 Launceston By-Pass—Spring 1976
A30 Camborne-Scorrier By-Pass—Spring 1975.
A30 Widening Goldcross Hill-Tedburn St. Mary—December 1974.
A38 Dry Bridge-Syon Abbey and South Brent—July 1974.
A38 Lee Mill-Smithaleigh Diversion—August 1974.
A38 Widening at Whipton Railway Bridge, Church Hill, Pinhoe, Exeter—August 1974.
A38 Liskeard By-Pass—June 1976.
A38 New Bridge at Drawbridge—September 1974.
A39 Widening at Buck's Cross, Parkham—October 1974.

The schemes which are in the firm programme are listed below, with estimated starting dates where these can be given. Subject to the satisfactory completion of the statutory procedures and the availability of funds, it is hoped to start work on the A303 Marsh Diversion early in 1975. Other schemes will be started as soon as resources allow.
