§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will seek to amend the pension provisions to ensure that persons forced to retire before the age of 65 through permanent sickness or disability receive a full pension and to provide that the wives of those of this category who retire early and who die before reaching the age of 65 years receive corresponding benefit.
§ Mr. O'MalleyPersons who become permanently sick or disabled before pension age will usually be able to obtain invalidity pension, which is at the same rate as the standard rate of retirement pension. While invalidity pension is payable contributions are credited to the person concerned for retirement pension purposes. In the event of a husband's early death in such a case, widow's benefits are available.
