HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 c261W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received concerning the level of French egg imports; what effect these imports have had on the United Kingdom market; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Bishop

Representations have been received from various interested bodies. However, the latest figures available show that last year and in the first five months of this, imports of eggs from all sources, including France, have amounted to less than 3 per cent. of estimated total United Kingdom supplies. Increased home production has been the main factor behind price falls this year.
