HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 cc273-4W
Mr. Normanton

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she is satisfied with the effectiveness of the United Kingdom's rôle in drawing up European standards.

Mr. Alan Williams

I am satisfied that the British Standards Institution, through which the United Kingdom is represented on the Committees of CEN and CENELEC, the regional bodies that prepare voluntary European standards, provides an effective machinery for United Kingdom interests to participate fully in the work, which is regarded by BSI as its first priority.
