HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 cc283-4W
Mr. Channon

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many driving instructors in the most convenient recent period have been removed from the register of approved driving instructors; and on what grounds such action has been taken.

Mr. Mulley

Apart from instructors who died, resigned, or did not renew their registrations, 66 were removed from the register in 1973. Of these, 43 had refused to take the prescribed test of continued ability and fitness to give instruction; 12 had been disqualified from driving; 10 were removed on grounds of character; and one because registration had been wrongfully obtained on the basis of false information.
