HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 c354W
Mr. Marten

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how much has been claimed by the EEC or ECSC by way of levies on coal and steel since 1st January 1973.

Mr. Varley

For coal the levy on production amounted to £2,257,107 in 1973 and £853,702 in the first five months of this year. For steel the figures are £3,784,389 in 1973 and £1,872,820 in the first five months of this year. This is in addition to the initial entrance fee of £24 million payable over three years to cover both coal and steel.
