HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 cc262-3W
Mr. Barry Henderson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking, during the present sugar shortage, to ensure supplies of sugar required by bee keepers in August and September to make up "winter syrup".

Mr. Money

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he will take steps to provide beekeepers with sufficient sugar to feed their nuclei and their stocks to enable them to maintain stocks for pollination next year;

(2) whether he will make sugar allocations specially available to bona fide beekeepers certified by beekeeping association secretaries so that they may secure their bees for the winter.

Mr. Bishop

I would refer the hon. Members to the reply given on 26th July to the hon. Members for Fife, East (Sir J. Gilmour) and Glasgow, Cathcart (Mr. Taylor) and to my reply of 29th July to the hon. Member for Edinburgh, South (Mr. Hutchison).
