asked the Lord President of the Council if he will list the salaries and allowances of Members of Parliament or their equivalent in the United Kingdom, America, France, West Germany, Sweden and Japan, respectively.

I regret that current information about the salaries and allowances paid to members of other parliamentary assemblies is not readily available and will need to be especially obtained. I shall write to the hon. Gentleman as soon as the information is to hand. Meanwhile, the hon. Member may wish to refer to Appendix E of the Top

Of the other 40 category 1 firms, 23 are excluded from the Department's analysis of company accounts because they are within the public sector; the other 17 firms are outside the scope of the analysis for various reasons, but mostly because they are operating mainly overseas.
