asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the number of persons on hospital waiting lists in (a) England and (b) in the eight English standard regions in 1973 per 1,000 population.

The number in England as as 31st December 1973 was 11 per 1,000 population. Regional figures are available for the former hospital regions in England as at 31st December 1973 and are as follows per 1,000 population:
