HC Deb 30 July 1974 vol 878 c170W
Sir D. Kaberry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many telephones have been provided by the Leeds City Council per 1,000 population under the provisions of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970; and how these compare with the national average.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The number of households expressed per 1,000 of the population provided with telephones and attachments by the former Leeds County Borough Council is 0.10 compared with the national average of 0.38. The figures relate to the year ending 31st March 1973, the latest period for which statistics are at present available, and include provision under Section 45 of the Health Services and Public Health Act 1968 as well as Section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970.
