§ Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action she proposes to take on supplementary benefit scale rates, long-term additions and earnings disregards for one-parent families in the light of the recommendations of the Finer Committee.
§ Mr. O'MalleyThe Supplementary Benefits Commission has decided to use its discretionary powers to give effect, as soon as is practicable, to the Finer Committee's recommendation about the supplementary benefit provision for lone parents under 18 who are not house-holders. I have at present nothing else to add to the reply my right hon. Friend gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Walsall, South (Mr. George) on 2nd July.
