Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) if he will publish a table showing by how much unemployment must rise or fall in each of, and personal involvement in, smaller in the DEP Gazette, in order to achieve an approximate parity between the numbers of unemployed and the numbers of job vacancies available, including those not notified to his Department;

(2) what is estimated to be the current ratio of unemployment to all vacancies, including those not notified to his Department, in each of the regions listed in the regional analysis of unemployment in the DEP Gazette.

As the hon. Member is aware, figures are not available for the numbers of job vacancies outstanding which are not notified to my Department.
