HC Deb 25 July 1974 vol 877 cc541-2W
Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he has any plans to extend the number of places for retraining unemployed men and disabled men, respectively, in Government training centres in the Birmingham area.

Mr. Harold Walker

The Manpower Services Commission informs me that the Training Services Agency plans to open two new skillcentres, formerly known as Government training centres, to serve the Birmingham area, one at Castle Bromwich and the other at Wolverhampton. They will provide more than 500 additional training places for the area by 1975–76. Under the Training Opportunities Scheme places at skillcentres are not earmarked for specific categories of trainees, but these facilities will be available equally to unemployed and disabled men and women.
