HC Deb 25 July 1974 vol 877 cc523-4W
Mr. Ridley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his forecast that the United Kingdom will only have 14 per cent. of the gross national product of the EEC in 1980, while contributing 24 per cent. of the Community budget, is based on projecting forward to 1980 the relative rates of growth of the nine countries which he gave in an answer to the hon. Member for Blackpool, South (Mr. Blaker) on 10th June.

Mr. Dell

The estimate of 14 per cent. for the United Kingdom share of Com- munity GDP in 1980 was based on average annual rates of growth for the period to 1980 of 4.9 per cent.—for the members of the Community other than the United Kingdom—and 3.9 per cent. for the United Kingdom—given in my reply to the hon. Member for Blackpool, South (Mr. Blaker) on 10th June.—[Vol. 874, c. 415–16.]
