HC Deb 24 July 1974 vol 877 cc489-90W
Mr. Delargy

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the reduction in the licence fees of television and radio will be granted to retirement pensioners.

Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will consider granting free television licences to retirement pensioners living on their own or in a household consisting only of persons in receipt of the pension.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The Government have given first priority to pension increases, and I am afraid it is not possible, for the present at least, to give a television licence concession.
