HC Deb 24 July 1974 vol 877 c510W
Mr. Stainton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in view of the collapse of the Liverpool stock exchange jobbing firm of Edgar Henriques and the existence now of only three jobbers outside London, he will initiate discussions as to the future of all provincial exchanges.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The provincial stock exchanges were amalgamated with the London Stock Exchange in March 1973 to form the Stock Exchange and all members of the Stock Exchange now have access to each of its trading floors.

I understand that there are six jobbers outside London—two each in Glasgow and Birmingham and one each in Liverpool and Manchester.
