HL Deb 24 July 1974 vol 353 cc1853-4WA
LORD IRONSIDE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the proposed plans for asserting greater public control over the development of underwater resources will include measures for subjecting the United Kingdom Continental Shelf installations to import controls in respect of goods being supplied from foreign sources.

LORD JACQUES

Supplies from foreign sources which are imported into the United Kingdom for use on installations situated in the United Kingdom designated area of the continental shelf are subject to the normal import and export controls which are applied to temporarily imported goods.

Goods from foreign sources which are supplied direct to installations in the United Kingdom designated area are not subject to official control as the installations are outside United Kingdom jurisdiction for import purposes.
