HC Deb 23 July 1974 vol 877 c407W
44. Mr. Andrew Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how soon he will be able to announce his decision on the establishment of comprehensive schools for Catholic children in Stockport.

Mr. Armstrong

No statutory proposals designed to achieve the reorganisation of Roman Catholic secondary education in Stockport have yet been made. The Department is considering with the local education authority and the Diocesan Schools Commission certain questions concerning the possible use, in this connection, of premises now occupied by independent schools. It is hoped that a decision on the points at issue will be reached in the near future.
